“Lick & Chew”

If you’ve spent time with horses, you know that they frequently “lick and chew”. While it’s an action with their mouth that sometimes looks like they’re savoring a candy, it’s more than that.  When a horse “licks and chews” it’s because, among other things, they are shifting from a more activated, processing, or working state, to one of relaxation and integration.
